Russian Interior Ministry conducts exercise to prepare for possible "Maidan"

The Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs has tried to recreate the conditions of Ukrainian "Maidan."

The head of the Russian Internal Ministry's press service, Vasiliy Panchenko has announced that the actions in time of significant complication of situation and emergency had been worked out during the exercise "Barrier-2015."

"The next step of the exercises included as the basis the events that happened in the recent past in neighboring countries. These were the exercises of the internal troops involved in the protection of public order and public security, anti-terrorism and extremism. In order to recreate a situation as close as possible to the reality, all the attributes of those events were used, including burning tires and throwing stones," – said Panchenko.

The exercise, which take place from 2 to 10 April, are carried out in close cooperation between the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the FSB, and Federal Drugs Control Service.

"Numerous versions of situation development have been exercised, including the use of the entire set of special equipment provided to the employees of the internal troops and police," – added the press officer.
