SBU opens case against Yanukovych and Constitutional Court's judges for usurpation of power

A number of senior officials will be charged with conspiring to change the constitutional order and usurpation of power in the country.

The SBU has registered criminal proceedings with charges against the former president Viktor Yanukovych, the judges of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine and a number of other major officials for the change of the constitutional order and usurpation of power.

This has been announced by the deputy chairman of the group working on a revision of the lustration law at the Ministry of Justice, Karl Volokh.

"Tonight the SBU has registered a criminal case against the former President Yanukovych, judges of the Constitutional Court and several other senior officials of conspiring to change the constitutional order and usurpation of power in Ukraine," – wrote Karl Volokh on his Facebook.

He also said that he would accompany the investigation, making a form of "public supervision" and highlighting (to the extent permitted by the investigation) its (investigation's) progress."

Earlier, the Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin told about the difficulties in bringing Yanukovych to justice.
