Rada rejects law on parliamentary opposition

Instead of the law on parliamentary opposition, Rada will amend its regulations.

Many groups in Verkhovna Rada want the status of opposition
The Ukrainian Parliament has rejected the bill "On Parliamentary Opposition." This decision has been supported by 228 MPs.

The bill №0948, offered by Vadym Novynsky, Eugene Hyeller and Valeriy Pysarenko, was registered in the Rada in November, 2014.

In February 2015, the Regulations Committee recommended to reject the bill and "authorize the Committee to prepare a new edition of the Verkhovna Rada regulations, envisaging new principles of coalition and opposition formation, organization and termination.

During the discussion of the bill in Rada, the leader of the pro-presidential part "BPP," Yuriy Lutsenko announced that he would not allow "The Opposition Bloc" to name itself as opposition in the Verkhovna Rada.
