Peugeot, Citroen and Mitsubishi suspend production of cars in Russia

Largest car producers suspend their activities in Russia
A joint venture of Peugeot-Citroen and Mitsubishi Motors "PCMA Rus" "intends to suspend the release of its models at the plant in Kaluga because of the crisis.

"Taking into account a difficult situation on the Russian automobile market and subsequent fall in demand, Kaluga plant of "PCMA Rus" suspends the production of Sedan Citroen C4 and Peugeot 408 from 27 April to 10 July, 2015. This period will be treated as a downtime and will be correspondingly paid to the employees," – announced the press service of the concern.

The production of Mitsubishi SUVs will be also temporarily suspended. The concern, however, notes that the existing production capacities will allow at any time to increase the production, in line with the market potential.

Earlier, Nissan announced about the suspension on its plant in St. Petersburg because of a low demand, and deep recession of the Russian economy.
